Io sto bene - Short Story.
La sala era molto affollata. Le poltrone e i divani erano pieni e scricchiolavano ogni qual volta una persona aggiustava la sua posizione. Sui tavolini erano poggiate un numero imprecisato di riviste. Tutta la spazzatura che l’editoria poteva aver prodotto era lì. Alcuni sfogliavano, alcuni guardavano le figure, altri addirittura leggevano. L’inserviente ogni tanto si affacciava alla porta dava un occhiata e si allontanava. Da lontano riecheggiavano i nomi dei pazienti chiamati. G per fortuna aveva un buon orecchio, altrimenti non sarebbe mai riuscito a comprendere quel mugugno che l’infermiera produceva aprendo la porta. Una signora anziana sedeva accanto a G. Povera vecchia. Probabilmente sono anni che sta qui ad aspettare. Stava leggendo una di quelle “riviste”. Muoveva leggermente le labbra come quando si legge a mente. Cosa stesse leggendo rimaneva però un mistero visto che su entrambe le pagine si stagliava una enorme foto. Qualche soubrette credo. Non ne sono sicuro. Non amo la tv. Non l’oggetto in se, anzi tecnicamente lo trovo affascinante, ma quello che ne scaturisce. Quell’enorme ammasso di vuoto. Non capisco cosa sia successo. Un tempo la tv aveva intenti educativi, conoscitivi. Oggi sembra l’opposto. Appena qualcosa di interessante appariva in quel piccolo tubo catodico potevi star certo che sarebbe stato cancellato e che non si saebbe piu ripresentato. Maledetto auditel. Mentre pensava queste cose g. Stava stritolando una rivista che aveva preso in mano. Resosi conto della situazione, in maniera un po’ goffa cercò di stirare la carta. Nessuno sembrava averci fatto caso. Tantomeno la vecchia accanto a lui che continuava a mugugnare.
La sala era grigia. Non solo i muri, ogni cosa era priva di colore. Ai quattro angoli della stanza c’erano altrettante lampade rigorosamente ikea. G adorava quelle lampade fino a quando non scoprì che le possedevano la quasi totalità della popolazione mondiale. Soprattutto i dentisti sembravano apprezzarle particolarmente. Nonostante questo G. non poteva trattenere un sorriso alla loro vista.
Sulla sala era calato un profondo silenzio. Anche lo scricchiolio dei divani sembrava essersi placato, come se qualcuno avesse diligentemente oliato il di dietro di tutti i presenti.
Che ora era? Era passato cosi tanto tempo da quando era entrato in quel luogo che g si era scordato perchè era li. “Che diavolo sono venuto a fare qui”. Mugugnava come la vecchia accanto a lui. Perlomeno il suo labiale era chiaramente leggibile “C-o-s-a d-i-a-v-o-l-o s-t-o f-a-c-e-n-d-o q-u-i?” g scandiva il proprio pensiero ma nessuno sembrava farci caso così cominciò anch’egli a mugugnare indefinitamente. Vediamo. Mi fa male qualche arto? No sembra di no. Mosse con calma ogni angolo del suo corpo. I movimenti facevano scricchiolare la pelle del divano. La signora accanto non sembrava disturbata dall’improvviso movimento, anzi colse l’occasione per aggiustare la sua seduta e girare pagina. Poi ricominciò il suo mugugno indefinito.
Niente dolore agli arti. Interessante. Solo qualche scricchilio alle ginocchia. Ma quello g l’ha sempre avuto. Quante volte deve essere sembrato un imbecille. Seduto dava calci al vuoto per far scrocchiare le ginocchia. La cosa gli dava un immenso sollievo. Potrei avere qualcosa agli occhi. G cominciò a volgere il suo sguardo a un cartello sul muro. Socchiuse leggermente gli occhi come per concentrare la vista. G l’aveva sempre fatto, Piu un vezzo che altro. g era ipermetrope ci vedeva anche troppo. Il cartello diceva “sei sicuro di stare bene? Per sicurezza chiedi al tuo medico” subito accanto “un medico al giorno leva le malattie di torno.” cartelli di questo genere erano sparsi ovunque. L’immagine di un medico con il suo stetoscopio puntato verso lo spettatore troneggiava al centro del muro. In basso la scritta “I want you”. la vista sembrava andare piu che bene. La lingua. Forse era la lingua il problema. “troglodita” “tetraedro” le due parole echeggiarono al centro della sala. Qualcuno alzo la testa per poi rimetterla giu. Un signore in fondo chiese “hanno chiamato me?” nessuno rispose.
La lingua sembrava a posto. “Ma insomma che diavolo sto facendo qui”. La lingua a posto, idem gli arti, nessun dolore alla testa, gli occhi ci vedono anche troppo. Io. Io credo di stare bene. Si. Io sto bene. “io sto bene” ripete ad alta voce. Tutti si voltarono verso g. A quanto pare tetraedro e troglodita erano due parole molto poco interessanti. Ci fu un mugugno di fondo. Poi la signora accanto a g chiese ” come dice ragazzo?” “io sto bene, mi sento bene” disse g con aria fiera. La donna lo guardo di traverso poi disse “è sicuro di stare bene?, magari è solo una cosa passeggera, vedrà che qualcosa le verrà” “si non faccia cosi. Prima o poi le verrà qualcosa e il medico la visiterà, non si deve agitare.” tutti sembravano molto preoccupati per la situazione di g. “magari se prende qualche pasticca potrebbe venirle qualche effetto collaterale, io ho un po di cortisone se vuole favorire.” “io sto..voglio dire..” tutto quel vocio e quell’attenzione aveva fatto venire a g. Un enorme cerchio alla testa. “che dolore alla testa” “ah meno male, per un attimo mi ha fatto preoccupare” disse la signora voltando pagina. Riaggiustata la sua seduta rientrò in quel suo mugugnare. Il resto dei presenti, tirato un sospiro di sollievo, era rientrato nello stato catatonico precedente alla frase di g. Anche il medico appeso al muro con il suo grande stetoscopio sembrava piu tranquillo. G. Socchiuse gli occhi cercando di lenire il dolore alla testa. Quei maledetti divani scricchiolavano che era una meraviglia e il crepitare delle pagine dei giornali sembravano onde che si increspavano prorpio contro la povera testa di g. “speriamo che il medico si sbrighi”.
